WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Megan’s school is refusing to let her publish an article on the legalization of gay marriage in the newspaper, unless she completely changes the article, removes all the quotes (both for and against the legislation), and has a meeting with her principal and the students she interviewed to discuss why she isn’t allowed to publish it. This is not only a violation of her first amendment rights and freedom of speech & expression, it’s blatant homophobia.

Megan’s school has a long history of pulling LGBT-related articles from the newspaper and silencing their LGBT students. Well, enough is enough. We’re taking a stand to stop the discrimination against student journalists and force the school to let her publish her article in its original form.

HERE’S WHERE YOU COME IN!

Please sign our Change.org petition and help us reach our goal of 2,000 signatures, which is over twice the size of Megan’s school. If we could reach or surpass our goal by Thursday evening or Friday morning, the administration will have to acknowledge the petition. We don’t know what will happen from there, but the point is that SOMETHING will, and taking a stand against discrimination and oppression is a right we have as citizens of the United States.
