What are the Challenges?
The Challenge is a movement across the globe to help the environment by reducing waste and conserving resources. The more people join this movement, the healthier you, your family, and your planet are.
The 2014 Challenges for Change are:
1. Opt for a lawn- free summer! This can save billions of gallons of water, and minimize pollution by reducing the spread of chemical fertilizers. I know, your yard looks so pretty- but does it have any practical use? Alternatives include creating a rock garden, planting vegetables, or simply letting your grass die. Worries of standing out on your street? Tell your neighbors about this awesome opportunity to help save the world.
2. Every Thursday, try your best to use alternate forms of transportation. Walking, biking, riding a public bus, or carpooling are all easy ways to conserve on gas and spare the atmosphere.
3. This June, try your best to not only negate the use of paper plates from your life, but also the use of paper cups, plastic cutlery, and paper napkins. Instead, use reusable dishes and cloth napkins whenever possible.
4. Make it a goal to refrain from going to any sort of store each and every Monday. This will help the environment, reject unhealthy materialistic values, and save you some extra money. If this isn’t possible for you, remember this tip when shopping for groceries: ask yourself “Do I need this, or do I want this?”
